Hometown hero

Kyle Busch won the Shelby 427 Sunday in front of hometown fans. I think this is the first time I have ever heard the crowd actually cheer for him when he got out to get the checkered flag.

Busch won the pole but was forced to start in the back because of an engine change. He won 21 races last year in all divisions of NASCAR. He has already won three this year. This kid is amazing. Before the race Jeff Gordon even said that Busch has more talent than he could ever dream about.

Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton, David Reutimann, and Bobby Labonte rounded out the top five. I want to give a big way-to-go to Labonte, too. I like when underdogs do well.

I would also like to give a rookie award to Jeff Gordon on missing the pits and blowing a tire. Good call Jeff.

The race was pretty exciting with the almost 15 cautions it had. Engines were the big problem. I thought Sam Hornish might actually make it through a race with out wrecking but I was wrong. Maybe next time Sam.

Well I have nothing more to write about or people to make fun of. Feel free to leave your comments about the race.

Go or blow

There were a lot of problems this weekend with the engines of every manufacturer, especially Toyota. Pole sitter and winner Kyle Busch had to go to the back of the pack after an engine change.

TRD, the engine builders for Michael Waltrip Racing and Red Bull Racing were having issues with the lifters wearing out the lobes on the cam shaft. However, all of their problems came in practice and not in the race like Roush Fenway delt with.

Matt Kenseth lost his engine on lap six, ruining his chances at a first ever three-peat. Then on lap 72, David Ragan, also of Roush Fenway, lost his engine too. But that wasn't the end of their troubles. Carl Edwards, who ran up front all day lost his engine with one lap to go while in the top five.

Mark Martin also blew an engine. His problem came from the engine being over revved. His transmission slipped out of gear and the result was a blown engine.
